The topic of productivity in HP is so critical because it can be such a source of joy and fulfillment when you’re making progress and gaining momentum, or it can be a source of frustration and an area where we beat ourselves up emotionally – we get mad at ourselves because we’re not doing more, but aren’t sure what we need to be doing more of. Or we’re super busy, but we don’t seem to be making any progress – we’re on the proverbial treadmill. We’ve lost sight of our major goals or aims and feel bad emotionally about not doing more, but we don’t have clarity about what our goals are. Another way of saying this is that we feel bad about not being more productive without having clarity about what should be produced.
High performance is about figuring out how to win the hour, the day, and the week so that you gain momentum in the different areas of your life that matter the most. HP is also about the quality of your time and making it count. When you change your relationship with time, you can actually get more done in less time so that you can allocate your time in other ways that are really meaningful to you.
